Very nice hosts! Escort to the site and they help you to get situated. Several sites not level fore and aft (not a real problem), but ours was perfect side to side. Sewer was a bit far and they provide an extension if you need it. Hosts knowledgeable of area attractions and can make some excellent suggestions! Bring your hummingbird feeder! Lots of other birds to watch too! Our AT&T cell phone didn't work until we walked up the hill to the office. No cable, so bring your dish. Some with fixed dishes had problems with trees, but I had portable and had no problem with reception. Location had minimal road noise, just the wind in the trees and the birds. We will come back again.
Very friendly and accommodating host. We found the park to be very clean and nice for two overnight stays on our way to and from destination. Some road noise, but as we ran the air conditioner, no problem. Electric service was adequate. Spaces face each other and are a bit tight - our slide ended up about three feet from the neighbor's, but not a problem getting in and out. Office closes early, so reservations are best way to go. We will stay there again.
Parks appears to be an older but nicer mobile home park that was converted to an RV Park. Accordingly, hook-ups might be a bit unusual necessitating a pull-in/back-out parking at some sites, but really not a problem. Sites are wide, some have trees. Even saw cotton-tailed rabbits in the park! Very accommodating and friendly hosts with escort to the site with care taken to be sure hook-ups are adequate for your rig. Easy access from I-40, but that comes with traffic noise. Since we were running the A/C, was no problem. Electric service was adequate, even with 100 degree temperatures. Good water pressure. Limo from Big Tex Steakhouse a few blocks away will pick you up in the park free. Coffee and donuts in the morning at the office! A good overnight stay!
One of the best! Very accommodating and friendly hosts with an escort to your site. The area is cool with minimal humidity. Sites are graveled, trees are planted but will take time to grow. We really didn't miss not having shade as there was frost nearly every morning in June! Country quiet in the evening and night. No cable TV, so bring your dish. Very nice church service held at Rec Center on Sunday. The mountains surrounding the park are beautiful. We'll certainly come back!
The sites are narrow but this is an adequate place to spend the night. The staff was friendly and courteous. There is a truck stop on one side and the interstate on the other side; however, noise was not excessive. Surfaces in the park were gravel and there was a light coat of dust on the vehicle the next morning. Trees were small, but this is an arid part of the world. We would stay overnight again.
Friendly and courteous staff checked us in and guided us to our site, making sure we got settled in nicely. We had a back-in site right on the river which was beautiful! The sites were a little close together, but that was more than made up for by being on the river. We enjoyed feeding squirrels and visiting with neighbors. The Kiwanis held a pancake breakfast in the park on Saturday - excellent quality and quantity and nice folks too. Beautiful cottonwood trees gave shade. Easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park and restaurants in Loveland. We certainly would go back again.
We spent two nights in the park which we found clean and well-tended. The staff was friendly and courteous. We stayed at the Sagebrush Campground which had very spacious, level, paved sites. Now this is an arid part of the world so you can't expect large trees. No cable, but we got excellent local TV reception from nearby Amarillo. The musical production of TEXAS was quite good and the catered meal beforehand was excellent. We found the dump station clean and working. We would certainly camp here again.
We were here just for an over-night stay. This is an adequate park; however, we didn't particularly like the face-to-face pull-through sites. We arrived about 7:00 PM and the office was closed, so had to use the night registration without provision for Good Sam discount. Sites were level and long enough so that we did not have to disconnect. They have good directional signs in town so park is easy to find. Park was clean and quiet. Barbeque grill and nice table were at each site. We would stay here again.
This is a small "mom and pop"-type park which we have been coming to for years. It's on the side of a hill and a few spaces may be difficult to back a heavy trailer into if you don't have four-wheel-drive; however, we've never seen anyone not be able to get into one. Some spaces are short and some are long, so its best to coordinate with the owners before you get there. We've never found anyone in the office, but check-in procedures are clear. They don't take credit cards but will accept checks. This is the only park in the town - we've stayed in some of the other parks nearby, but we think this one is the best. This is not a major park with lots of amenities, but if you like cool (9000 feet elevation), quiet surroundings in a simple but beautiful setting, this is it.
We've been coming back year after year. The park is well-maintained, quiet, and restful. The staff is friendly and ready to help you and/or assist in directing you to area attractions. They have a nice selection of convenience items in the on-site store. The sites are not quite level, hence the "9" rating, but it doesn't take much to take care of that. Nice shade and right on the beautiful Frio River.
